In Memory of Malcolm Mandeville Hopper

On October 25, 2010, Malcolm Mandeville Hopper, the father of our Race Director, Merritt Hopper, passed away. Malcolm’s love for running and hiking deeply influenced Merritt’s journey, shaping him into the Race Director he is today. Malcolm was an avid runner, completing multiple New York City marathons and countless road races. He was also an accomplished hiker, conquering all 46 peaks in the Adirondacks. Their shared passion for outdoor activities began when Merritt was just 8 years old, as they raced together in local 5Ks and 10Ks, and explored various mountain ranges in the Northeastern United States. Malcolm’s legacy continues to inspire our Race2Adventure community.

In memory of Malcolm, Race2Adventure LLC, alongside Merritt, the Race2Adventure Team, and our participants, is dedicated to giving back. We pledge to donate a portion of all proceeds to two meaningful organizations. Charity: water (www.charitywater.org) strives to provide clean and safe water to people worldwide. First Descents (www.firstdescents.org) offers life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults (ages 18 – 39) impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions. Our global adventures not only fulfill our passion but also contribute to these impactful causes, creating a legacy of giving back inspired by Malcolm’s spirit.
