Day 1 – Saturday, September 25th – Munich, Germany

We are going to kick off this epic adventure week with the grandest European celebrations of them all – OKTOBERFEST! Check into our hotel where our R2A staff will be there to greet you. Then make your way to the fairgrounds for a fun, casual, and outrageous start. We’ll be co-mingling with the group who took the journey from Budapest to Munich. Let the old and new worlds collide for one night and one night only!

Day 2 – Sunday, September 26th, Munich, Germany

(Breakfast included)

Sleep in! We’re going to get some rest before registration takes place from 10am-12pm at the hotel. At 1pm, we’ll be going on the famed ‘Mike’s Bike Tours’ to see Munich via bike. We’ll end the tour at a great Munich beer garden. Some may choose to get some sleep before we board “The A” boat. Others might brave a second night at the Oktoberfest!

Day 3 – Monday, September 27th, Passau, Germany

(Light breakfast, brunch buffet, and dinner included)

Board the buses from Munich to Passau so we can get aboard our home for the next six nights – ‘THE A’! We’ll arrive in Passau and make our way up to a fortress overlooking this scenic German riverside city. At the finish line of our first race there is a quintessential beer garden with German beer and sausages! No offense to the beer garden at your local town’s 5k or 10K, but we’re going to one up them this time! Time to make our big boat home and set sail down the Danube. Next stop, Linz!

Day 4 – Tuesday, September 28th, Linz and Salzburg, Austria

(Light breakfast, brunch buffet, and dinner included)

Today is a crown jewel for us. It’s a little less leisure and a little more “make sure we do it all”! We’re going to hike among the Austrian Alps! There’s a good deal of elevation gain so hiking will be the preferred theme today. No timing on this adventure. Let’s go see the Alps in all their splendor.

Post hike, we’re continuing onto Salzburg!  Salzburg is the city associated with “The Sound of Music”. It has a beautiful castle that overlooks the rest of the city. A tour of the castle is highly recommended. That or play a local in life size chess. That or visit a market with local fare. There’s no wrong answer here.

After Salzburg, we’ll return to the port in Linz by bus. Hope all of this land travel didn’t throw you off. Back on the boat!

Day 5 – Wednesday, September 29th, Melk to Durnstein, Austria

(Light breakfast, brunch buffet, and dinner included)

There are FIFTY bikes on board and we’ll make sure that everyone has the ability to put these to use regularly. Melk to Durnstein is the best example. We’re going to make sure that 120 bikes are ready to go for this journey from port to port!

Post race that morning, we’ll head back on board for our daily robust brunch!  Then we’re going on a bike ride – 20 miles (32K) along the Danube to be exact! You see, most tourists get back on the boat after seeing Melk and then make their way to Durnstein. Not us! We’re going to have the boat meet us at the next port, and make our way through small towns and picturesque bike paths. There’s zero rush (and yes, you can forego the biking adventure by taking the boat should you choose).

Day 6 – Thursday, September 30th, Vienna, Austria

(Light breakfast, brunch buffet, and dinner included)

Ah, Vienna. Arguably one of the most beautiful cities in the world. This thriving metropolis is decked out with museums, cathedrals, parks, city squares, and cafes. There’s also a trolley that takes you on a loop around the city. But before you rely on modes of transport, let’s race!

We’re in Vienna from morning until night, so there’s plenty of time for a run, another great brunch on board, and exploration of the city. In the evening, we recommend coming on board for another fantastic dinner before heading back out to enjoy the nightlife.

Day 7 – Friday, October 1st, Bratislava, Slovakia

(Light breakfast, brunch buffet, and dinner included)

Separated from the neighboring Czech Republic in 1988, the country of Slovakia stands on its own. It’s a bit less known in comparison to Hungary, Austria, and Germany, which makes it a hidden gem of Central Europe.

When here, we’ll wake up, eat a light breakfast, go for a stunning run outside of the city, come back to freshen up and have brunch, explore the city, and then head back to our boat for dinner, drinks, and set sail once again. So…you’re getting the gist of this daily agenda now, yes?!  Light breakfast when you wake up, run/exercise, back for brunch, and then explore the port city.  It doesn’t get any better than this!

Day 8 – Saturday, October 2nd, Budapest, Hungary

(Light breakfast, brunch buffet, and dinner included)

Wake up and have a light and energizing breakfast in your running gear. Our last run will take us through the parks of Budapest. After some great exercise, the likelihood of your appetite kicking in is very high. So…time for your last brunch on board.  After brunch, you’ll have plenty of time to see Budapest at your leisure. Take it nice and easy as this evening is our final HURRAH!  We’ll have a great final dinner on board and then head out to dance the night way in one of the biggest and best party cities in Europe!

Day 9 – Sunday, October 3rd, Budapest, Hungary

(Breakfast included)

We did it! The Oktoberfest, four countries, biking, running, and now it’s time to disembark.  A number of you may be headed home today. Some may have extended their tour throughout Europe.  The choice is yours.

We’ve done a lot here at R2A. We’ve seen much of Central America, South America, Europe, and the South Pacific. But this? This will be a first. We will have shared countries, cuisine, and the biggest celebration in Europe together. We will have shared “The A Boat” together. As usual, it should go without saying – we can’t wait to see you on another adventure again!
